Monitor Flickering

It was already resolved, but what I'm trying to figure out is how it happened?. The monitor was flickering horizontal stripes with redish-violet colors. The Mpu turned on fine, all of the cables to the monitor were connected. Both power and the Video cable to the cpu. The Led for the monitor power would not show any color whatsoever when it was pressed. It was resolved by simply disconnecting the power cable from the outlet, waiting a few seconds, and reconnecting it. After that, I booted up the computer and it showed Windows perfectly. What could have caused that in the first place? There are probably numerous possibilities I'm sure..

Mpu? Do u mean cpu? don't call the system cpu, cpu is a small chip. May be loose connection..

Well thank you for correcting me sir/mam..a loose cable? no it
couldn't have been..I tightened the cable..There was definitely
power getting to the monitor..obviously since it was
flickering..but all I did was unhook the "power"cable and re-
hooked it and bam! problem there was never anything
wrong with the cable, let alone the transmission of electrons from
the system to the monitor since it was showing everything on the
screen perfectly..and obviously nothing wrong with the gun inside
the monitor..

wait a minute though...that's probably it!..I did mention that I
tightened the cable to make sure it wasn't loose. And that
even after that the screen was still flickering...I rebooted the
system, without unplugging the power cable first, and still
nothing. But then I unplugged the power chord, turned off the
computer, plugged it in again, turned it on, and everything
was fine. So..could have that been a result of me tightening
the cable earlier, or if I were to not have tightened the screws,
would I still get the same result?. If I were to get the same
result: A working monitor that doesn't flicker", by not
tightening the cable and unplugging the power and replugging
it...then what could have been the problem??...interesting..
