I recently purchased a new Crosshair V formula Z motherboard and came to install it, however I noticed I was short of one stand off, I was wondering wether I need all 9 standoff a for an atx motherboard or whether I can get away with eight and just leave a gap where it is less likely to flex?

Just to say that you can purchase stand offs, or maybe where you purchased it from can send you one. You might also be able to improvise something.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Do you have a mom & pop type computer shop nearby? Stop in & take one of your standoffs with you, I'm sure they'll be able to match it up. They'll probably just give you one.

And make sure you bench-test your board before installing it in the case.

If you decide to go with one less it shouldn't be in an area where you push down hard to install something--like near the ram or PCI slots. But as already mentioned it should be easy enough to get one.

Not that it's what you need but I have the world's largest collection of the plastic stand-offs for AT style motherboards.
