Gateway / T-6345u

Specs: Windows 7, Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz
My Gateway T6345u laptop is not recognizing 4gb of memory. It came with 2gb and when I insert another module of 2gb it won't boot to windows. The "other" module is OK and it works fine if I insert it by itself. the BIOS is Phoenix ver. is 89.29. Gateway support has only an OLD ver. of BIOS for download. My processor is Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz. Is there anything I can do to to upgrade it to 4Gb of memory as advertised??

Is the memory exactly the same, or did you get another stick from a different manufacturer?

What version of your OS are you running. 32 bit windows won't use more than 3gbs of ram. I have had a few systems that would boot with too much and a few that wouldn't depending on how far over you had gone. Example the motherboard will except 8gbs but with 8gbs in we get just a blank white screen but with 4gbs it would boot but but only show 2.93gbs of memory installed.

I'm running Win7 32bit and I would even settle for the laptop to recognized 3gb but, not only that. I've never bought a Gateway product before, I got this laptop because it was a good deal at the time thinking of upgrading the memory to 4Gb. Never again! Gateway will never get my money again. Their technical support is a joke, they don't even want to support their own product. They told me flat out there is no support for upgrades.
