McAfee has asked me to restart, so the computer can apply the new updates.
now my resolution and colors settings are stuck to..
resolution: 640x480
colors: 4bits
and can't go any higher...
i rebooted my comp. i updated my monitor's driver and I tried to solve the problem via help wisard with no success...should I reformate? or ask a proffetional to fix my probleme?
Can we assume the higher options are grayed out? Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
Reinstall your graphics driver, then dump McAfee & replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials.
Have you checked it in safe mode?? You need not to format your computer. I think just reinstalling the video drivers will do good and restart your computer after the installation !! Solving Technical queries is my passion and I just Love it !!
well thank for the answers and ill let ya know if it as worked. :D
Just had the exact same problem as nicolas205. Had to do a System Restore, then change McAfee options to Notify Me Before Download. I am protected but will not allow updates until McAfee resolves this and notifies me. Failing that, they can refund my fee and I'll go elsewhere. @Derek - higher options are not grayed out. I switch to 32bit color, hit apply and it ignores me. I switch to 1440 X 900 (my typical setting for months now since I got a new monitor) and hit apply and it ignores me.
@riider and buggsbunny - it has nothing to do with drivers. The McAfee update appears to have a bug. Nice QA McAfee!
I hope McAfee is monitoring this site. I'm not about to sit on phone hold for 10 minutes to report to THEM about THEIR problem! And I'm not going to download and install their diagnostic tools - required before I can proceed to live chat. Smooth, McAfee, very smooth!
