So it's been a year since I had my Acer Aspire 5250-0895 and recently the fan inside is making this annoying loud noise and then becomes quieter after booting up. This only happens when my laptop has been off for while before turning it on. I'm guessing my fan may be dirty or something because it never made that loud noise until now.

Any tips on how to clean the fan or get to it somehow?

Sounds like your Heatsink & Fan has lots of built up dust. The easiest way for a Home user to blow the fan with compressed air grab a can and blow it. How ever the biggest issue with that is over spinning the Fan and messing up the berrings and then you will have a annoying noise all day and night. so do avoid this what I do is look under the vent on the bottom of where the fan is you will see it, take a paper click straighten it out and hold it in place so the fan doesnt go in circles, then blow the bottom and the side vents where the air is suppose to come out from. good luck.

I have cured this by removing the sticky tab on the bearing and applying a drop of thin oil. If it's inside the power unit take care because capacitors stay charged in there.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
