Looking to update motherboard/cpu

Specs: Windows 7
I am looking for a cost effective way to update my motherboard and cpu. My current motherboard is a BIOSTAR H61MGC and my CPU is an intel pentium g620. I am looking to spend 200~300$. Another question is for that much money will I even see a big preformance increase? I am also thinking of updating my Graphics Card, I currently am using a Radeon HD 7700. All together I would not really want to spend more then 400~500$. IF anyone has any ideas for a decent upgrade for that price point I would love some imput.

Which RAM do you have - DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1866? Do you plan on overclocking? Make sure you have the latest BIOS. If you don't, update it before swapping CPUs.

The Radeon HD 7770 is still pretty high on the charts. You can do better, but is it necessary? You'd have to move up to something like the HD 7870 or GTX 660 Ti to make it worthwhile. With that CPU & either of these GPUs, you'd be right in the $400-500 range. And you should be able to recoup some of your money by selling the Pentium & HD 7770.

Thanks for the advice. Should I swap the motherboard too? Or would that not make much of a difference?

And for the ram I don't quite remember and I won't be around to check for a while.

If you want to get the most out of that CPU, look at the X77 series motherboards.
This one stays with the smaller format:
This one is a full ATX:
There are other good board mfg's out there, I personally prefer Gigabyte for quality and value.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
