Solved looking for a laptop to store all my music c/d's on

Specs: Windows XP
hello, I am looking for information on purchasing a laptop for storing my music cd's on. all it has to do is store the music and play it back through my home stereo system. i don't need to go online or even need a operating system i purely want to use it as a storage device and jukebox.

Yes, you need an operating system. How else are you going to access the files or play them or rip music from the CD's?

For what you want to do, would require very little power so you could probably find an older laptop on Craigslist for a good price. I used to use an old Pentium 1 500MHz laptop for that purpose and it worked just fine. Depending on how much music you want to store on there and the bitrate you encode the songs at will determine how big a drive you need. How many CD's do you have?

abot 200 c/d. additionally about 1000 mp3 songs, any advice on memory? thanks, computers are not my thing

Forgot netbooks doesn't come with optical drive but u can add external cd drive like this http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?In...
512 MB of memory will be enough.

For that amount of music a 40-60 gig drive will sufice.

The Laptop Larry posted has a big enough drive.
