Specs: Windows 7
I was trying to put music on my lexar memory stick and can only fill half the memory card it says that it contains FAT formatting and can only hold a limited amount. How can I get the full memory space and continue to use it for playing music on my stereo system?

You can try reformating it as NTFS

I think the issue is that a FAT formatted volume can have a maximum of 512 files in the root folder. And if you have long file names (more than 8 characters + 3 characters extension) then this will be further reduced.

Try formatting the drive as FAT32. You will lose all data on the drive so backup everything first. FAT32 would normally be preferred over NTFS on a 2GB drive.

An alternate solution would be to put the files in sub folders.

Windows 7 could even use exfat if you only use it on windows 7.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
