LCD Screen Broken need to get to bios.

Specs: Windows 7, Intel Celeron M 2.16GHz / 4 gigs
I have a Compaq Presario CQ50-209WM with a broken screen. I think it's the FL inverter, but I can't replace it. Anyways. I'm hooked up to a external monitor that works fine in windows, but I can't see the post or bios when I try to get to it. I want to set up a dual boot with W7/W8RC but it would be useless if I can't see which OS to select at bootup. I have HP F.31 BIOS. Thanks for any help.

1-but I can't see the post or bios when I try to get to it.
2-it would be useless if I can't see which OS to select at bootup

the 2 are not connected, unless you need to choose between 2 different drives in the bios.

In order to dual boot, you'd need to select which OS to boot, since my external monitor will not click on till windows loads, I can't see the options to select which OS. Also, I'd like to be able to see the bios if I ever need to change the settings....

The only way to see BIOS in a laptop is with the inbuilt screen. BIOS knows nothing about external monitors and cannot be set to display to such. There is no workaround that I know of.
