Laptop Turns On, Then Off within 10 seconds (No Post)

August 3, 2012 at 11:15:17
Specs: Windows 8, 4
I boot up my laptop to find that the LED on the power button would turn on for a few seconds (10 seconds) and then shut off. No beep, no post, nothing. I attempted to boot up in various ways - with battery only, with AC adapter only, with both - no luck, I would get the same result each time.

I tested the AC adapter with my multimeter and it seems to be functioning properly, so I am starting to presume something is wrong with the power converter on the motherboard.
If anyone has any suggestions !

If neither battery or AC will boot the machine (and you know both are good), then it could also be a problem with the mainboard itself. You need to post some more specs about the laptop itself before we can give much more help...

Kinda sounds like the power switch is broken, and keeps getting stuck in the closed position.

If it's a fairly new machine (appears to be) then send it back under warranty.
