Specs: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
Hello all,
I've recently run into a problem with my laptop. It's only about two years old. The model number at the top reads HP Pavilion dv2000 (I'm unsure if it is the "z" or "t" version). When I push the power button, all the lights, such as on the volume slider, the mouse indicator, the wireless indicator, and the power button all light up normally. The light which indicates power to the laptop also comes on and does not blink. The cooling fan sounds like it spins for a second and then the hard drive sounds like it makes a rotation or two before the computer goes silent. There is no monitor activity whatsoever. I am able to open the CD drive and when a disc is inserted, I can hear the drive spinning. When I hit caps lock on the keyboard, the indicator light for this function does not turn on. The last time the computer was turned off, it was done by going to start, and then shutdown. Windows installed an automatic update upon shutdown, and windows powered down normally. Any help in resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, the screen just stays black as though the computer is off. So I tried hooking the laptop to a desktop monitor. I know for a fact that this monitor is fine and in working order. The monitor indicated that it was receiving "No Signal."
Also, I did not hear any beeps and I have no intention of reinstalling the OS until I can actually see what I'm doing.
There is currently no change in the status of the laptop.
