Laptop shuts down

Lenovo / T500
June 30, 2010 at 10:27:53
Specs: Windows Vista
I have Vista Business 64 and it shuts down and restarts due to an unrecoverable error. After the last crash my secondary monitor is the main monitor and I can't get the laptop to be the main. After attaching the secondary monitor, the desktop jumps over to it even though it's not powered up.
Under warrenty Lenovo replaced a heat sink but a month later and not under warrenty it still shuts down and now they can't help because it not under warrenty.
Any solution to my two problems.

Can you help clearify. It sounds like you have two problems.

1) The system shuts down
2) The laptop will not switch back to the main screen and only works with external monitors

1) When does the system shut down? Are you able to get Windows fully loaded and it shuts down at random times or does Windows never load?

2) I think that computer comes with an ATI card which has a Crystal Control Center (CCC). I have uninstaled on my laptops because I had such trouble with it. You may want to uninstall it and see if it helps. You can always reinstall it latter.
