Solved Laptop screen shuts off while on, have to force power off

Specs: Windows 10
Hi all, thanks for taking your time to help.

Recently my laptop began shutting the screen off while continuing to run. It only happens in cases when it would normally turn off (ex. closing the lid or long period of inactivity) but the light that indicates that the screen is on remains on. When I press the power button or keys it remains the same and I have to force power down the computer by holding the power button.

It is an Asus Q302LA-BBI5T14 running on Windows 10, about 2 years old with most of the hardware refurbished due to a spill.

Go to Power Settings and set the display to Never power down. Also set the hard drive to Never power down. These should fix the problem. Both still power off when your machine goes to sleep. The hard drive powering down often makes a machine freeze up, especially when it does this and then tries to go into sleep or hibernate. Let the sleep or hibernate control the power down. Make sure that the lid closing is set to make the machine sleep.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
