Laptop screen not work with external monitor

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a laptop with a very dim screen that I could only see a little of the desktop image with a flashlight. I tried to connect the computer with an external monitor and it worked fine until today the external monitor could no longer detect my computer even I tried to switch with the Fn F3 keys (which worked in the past few days). I tested the external monitor and it worked with another laptop computer.

I just had a new LCD screen replaced a month ago when the old one began to flicker (I ain't really sure it that was really a brand new screen). This new screen worked fine but began to flicker a week ago and one day I heard a small noise and it went black (very dim and the brightness couldn't be adjusted).

Would it be the video card, the inverter or the backlight problems, or even the motherboard?

The computer is no longer under warranty. Is there any way that I could get it work with the external monitor again before I can make a trip to the technician?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Seems like a double whammy to me....I think your replacement LCD went out (either the bulb or the inverter), AND your graphics adapter failed as well, if you cannot get external video to show. (Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I hate laptops....)

MOOOOooove! OH and you're welcome!
