Specs: Windows Vista
recently my laptop has been overheating and shutting down more often, but the bottom of the laptop and the charger are barely warm after the laptop decideds to shut down. the fans kick on when mere facebook apps are playing now. normally id just think it because its a laptop but i use to know its time to give it a break cuz the laptop was getting really hot. im just wondering about the change in actual temperature before the laptop decides its too hot

It's got nothing to do with the charger, it's the CPU that overheats & causes the system to shutdown. Check the cooling vents - make sure they're not clogged with dust, hair or other debris. If they are, clean them. Then give them a good blast with a can of compressed air to clear out any internal dust on the heatsink. And when you use your laptop, make sure not to place it on a carpet, bed, couch, etc. Set it on a clean hard surface such as a desk or table top. And prop up the back so that fresh air can freely enter & exit the vents.
