I guess you're doing the FN + F4 correctly:

There's definite 'windows sounds' as it's booting up and not just fans and drives spinning up? It shows the white screen immediately when you turn it on--there's no logo or posting screen prior to windows loading?

Usually if it's just the laptop screen then an external monitor works. Seems then it'd be something with the video adapter but you say you've put in a new motherboard.

I think someone needs to open it up again and at least check that the screen wires and cabling are intact and in good condition.

Are there F keys that control the contrast and brightness? Perhaps brightness got set to the maximum and you didn't realize it.

Or possibly it's a resolution issue. You might try booting to safe mode using the F8 boot menu (if that comes up).

There fn + f2/f3 to de/increase contrast, but not respond to lcd. I've also tried booting on safe mode (f8), but nothing happen, lcd or monitor remain blank.

Maybe it's a bad screen but you'd think the external monitor would work in that case. I can't think of anything else to suggest.

You're welcome.

I remember another thread where the both the screen and external monitor didn't work so I know that can happen but I don't know why.
