Specs: Windows XP
Hi, I have a PCG-V505AX from Sony. My computer screen says "no operating system found". I tried putting an XP operating system to it, then it loads all the way to "windows setup". But then the computer tells me that it does not detect a hardrive. I tried opening the computer to see if the hardrive was connected correctly and it all seem to be correctly connected. There is only one thing, there are four pins sticking out the drive that have no connection, could that be the problem. If that would be the case, where could i get the adapters to connect it. I dont know what i have to do to fix it. Could you guys tell me what to do.

Was this a working system or did you just install a new HDD? If it's a new SATA drive, XP setup won't recognize it until the SATA drivers are install. Or you *may* be able to enter the BIOS & change the setting to IDE compatibility mode.

No this was a working system, but the computer is second hand. When i bought it, it was already like this. It says no operating system after passing bios and then it just stops there. When i put the Operating system in it, it when to "Windows Setup" then it said that the hard drive was not detected. What else can i do?
