Laptop fujitsu won't start!

November 3, 2012 at 00:38:43
Specs: Windows vista
Hey everyone,

I have a laptop s serie fujitsu that doesnt start since giving me a blue screen. I must admit it was on and laying on the bed (guess it started to burn and one hardware got damaged).

Now when I on the laptop, the power goes on, nothing appears on the screen. I checked the error chart on fujitsu and my num lock led is blinking. The other ones remain off. It means as stated on fujitsu chart, that one peripheral is not responding/damaged.

Question : which peripheral is dead to you? It should probably be the graphic chipset? In that case, as i have no more warranty, I better buy a new one or I try to repair it?

Thanks for your help and your guidance.

It's impossible to say which component is damaged without more information or without having it checked over by a laptop repair shop. Most laptop components cannot be repaired or changed, only the hard drive or the RAM can be changed.

if it's anything else, it means the entire motherboard has to be replaced, but it won't be cheap as that is the most expensive part of a laptop, plus you have to pay labour charges to fit it unless you can do it yourself.

The total cost could easily be almost as much as an entire new laptop.

If the laptop overheated, which sounds likely the safeguards built into the unit should have shut it down to prevent damage.

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and boot. You may need to click on one of the Fn keys to enable using the external monitor. Consult your manual to learn the procedure to use an external monitor (display).

If it will not start now, the only thing you can try by yourself is to blow out the cooling vents with canned compressed air. Other than that you will probably need a professional to look at it.
