Specs: Windows Vista, unknown
My Acer Aspire Laptop is freezing when it gets to the desktop. Tho sometimes wont even let me enter my full password before freezing. I cant click on anything to bring up any menu's or run any scans. I have tried all the options on set up and the drive scans in set up are saying there is no preblems. I dont have any recovery discs (stupid i know) and havent backed up any files onto my external drive. It also does same in Safe mode. Pls can someone help? Im also a novice with tech problems and dont understand a lot about them. Thank you

Sounds like it is overheating & locking up. Have you ever cleaned out the fan & vents?

Does the fan spin up?

No, ive never cleaned the fan as not sure how to. Is it easy to do? Like I say im a complete novice when it comes to this. Am I better sending it to someone to get fixed or is it something I could do myself? My brother is good with computers, but due to the bad weather here in Scotland, he cant get to me to fix it for me. Thanks so much.
