Laptop doesn't boot up.

Specs: Windows 7

I was changing my laptop screen on an advent roma 1000 model. While the old screen was out i switched on the laptop (with no screen) and it just went dead. The power button stopped working, it wouldn't even light up. I fit the new screen in anyway and got it checked out from a pc shop. They told me the motherboard had gone, so i bought a new motherboard for it. I replaced the motherboard myself - now the power button lights up but it doesn't boot up. The power light just goes on and off. Is someone able to explain what's happened?

Go the simple way: try the old display on the new board first. Maybe there is a power config difference between the 2 monitors.

Also, make sure the power button is working. It could be sth. like the wire to the the power button is damaged. You can try hot-wiring the power button.

Hi there. I tried putting the old screen back in and switched it on. The same thing is happening - the power button lights up but won't boot up. Are you saying there still may be a problem with the power button even though it lights up? (the fan spins too when i switch it on).
