Specs: Win7 x64, Athlon 6400+ / 4gb Ram
I have this Presario F500 that I decided to strip so I can use it as a servo controller server on a robotics projects of mine. It was my grandmothers and it used to just stay on all the time, they had it hooked up to an external VGA monitor. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, I removed the LCD/hinges, keyboard, speaker/button bezel and mouse pad/palm bezel. Just to sync it up I am using an external VGA monitor until RDC is set up. BUT here is the problem, now (using the VGA output) the screen blinks out to black like 1-5 times a minute and stays out for about a 1 second. The monitor power light stays solid, and you can rule out a backlight or something because I am using an external. Maybe a bad GPU? All the drivers are correctly installed, I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. It kind of seems as if it started happening after I removed those components, including the LCD I unplugged it from off the board. Sometimes it blinks out randomly like when loading the desktop BUT for the most part it does it when I click on a button like "ok" or "finish" any ideas?!

PS- The display goes nuts when I plugged a new flash drive in, also mildly does it when I removed the flash drive.

Try to see what happens when you plug the original display back in. It could be some sort of fail-safe or a strange windows feature(AKA bug)
