Is it a bad idea to have a cooling fan (the pads that goes under your laptop) under your laptop? I heard from a friend that its bad because it sends the hot air back inside your laptop so im not so sure if its a good idea or not.

"it sends the hot air back inside your laptop"

That's absurd...not to mention just plain wrong.

at first i thought the same thing, then i thought a little more logically. That WOULD happen if the laptops heat exhaust thing (where it blows out the hot air) is in the bottom of the laptop.

Think about what you just said.

"...the laptops heat exhaust thing (where it blows out the hot air)..."

If it's blowing out hot air, how is any hot air going to get back in?

Hot air rises. If this hot air has to move horizontally for a few inches before it can rise, it will. No matter how hard you try, you will not be able to invent this problem. Physical laws simply don't allow it.

If you don't believe me, try puking into a stiff wind.
