Laptop Boot Problem

Specs: Win 7, 2GB
I have a emachines laptop using Windows 7 about a year old, and tonight it locked up on me surfing the web. I turned it off and now it will not boot up. I tried to go into safe mode and it will go to load all the files and stop on AtiPcie.sys and that's it. All the other options I'm given when I press F8 takes me to the Starting Windows screen and it just sits there. Can anyone help? Thanks

Did you recently install a new video driver?

Nope, all I've installed the past few weeks were updates from microsoft but nothing from ATI.

maybe you should just do a non destructive os repair. If you have your original windows disc, you can just boot with that and then choose repair.
