Laptop battery doesn't charge on Sundays but other days OK

Specs: Windows 7, 6gb ram
For some reason, my laptop battery doesn't charge on Sundays but charges without any problem any other day. Also, I discovered that by putting my laptop battery(wrapped in a strong polythene bag) in the freezer for about a month extends the life of the battery almost indefinitely. I've been doing this now for several years and have not had to buy a replacement battery. I might add, I have two batteries, one spare and one in my laptop.

"For some reason, my laptop battery doesn't charge on Sundays but charges without any problem any other day."

That's bizarre to say the least. I can think of no (sensible) explanation for that.

Does this happen if you plug the laptop charger into another poor outlet; perhaps try several around the house?

Do other electrical appliances and lamps work ok in the socket(s) used to charge the battery?

Can you try another charging unit; equally if you were to go to a neighbour's/friends house would the problem persist?

Are there "any settings" in the laptop power system that may be set to disallow charging? I'm not aware that is an option in any kit - but who knows?

just a hunch

You might try changing the date so the computer thinks another day is Sunday. Then see if the problem occurs on a real Sunday or when the computer thinks it's Sunday. If the latter it must be a power setting or some computer activity, as already mentioned.

I never heard of freezing a battery to extend its life. That's good to know.

Thanks DAVEINCAPS for your comment. I got the info about freezing the laptop battery on YouTube. I didn't believe it myself until I tried it.

Hi, regarding the 'Never on a Sunday' issue.

Am wondering if here is a Time Switch on the mains supply side somewhere, that has Day settings, and Sunday has been set to OFF.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

It has all the readings of a time switch or something like being involved... Be it a timer in the mains supply (easy to verify by inspection, and also using other sockets); or a setting within the computer itself?
