Kodak Hero 5.1 Printer printhead missing

September 23, 2013 at 07:49:14
Specs: Windows 7
Error message came up immediately after replacing an ink-cartridge, albeit not a Kodak cartridge. Have removed the ink-carts and the printhead and re-installed them repeatedly, even putting in genuine Kodak carts, but to no avail. Don't want to replace the printhead, only to find the problem still exists: ideas of the solution?

Did you clean the contacts on the print head while it was off?

I did clean the print-head at some stage: that wouldn't be the problem surely, since the fault appeared before this, in fact only after replacing the ink-cart?

The print-head was original equipment and already installed at purchase, it had been in continuous use since purchase (2 years max) & not been disturbed at all.
To reiterate, the error-message ('...print-head missing,...') only came up on the installation of a replacement ink-cart, albeit not a Kodak pack but a Tesco alternative. When I did 'clean' the print-head, it was merely a wipe with a piece of kitchen-roll.

Seen it, tried it, it didn't sort it. That's why I posted this query on Tom's Guide.

The last sentence in that link says to contact Kodak if those instructions don't help. Did you try that?

Kodak now out of hard-ware business. Was no contact details, just a list of FQA's, which I'd already addressed.

The link below seems to indicate they are still providing technical support.

Have e-mailed to the Kodak link and await the response. Have indicated that I'd be somewhat shocked to learn that Kodak printers fail with alternative ink-carts (from Tesco), which would surely be against EU consumer-law!
