keybrd @ sign only obtainable by Shift and 2

November 30, 2010 at 10:20:53
Specs: Windows Vista
On my keyboard I can only get @ by pressing Shift and 2. Also Shift and 3 gives me #.

Any ideas how to rectify as system still shows I am linked to UK setting. Thanks

It sounds like your keyboard settings in Control panel are set to US English. Go to Control Panel> region and language> keyboards and Languages.

The above are Windows 7 settings. May be slightly different in Vista.

Many thanks for your reply and apologies for not getting back to you before. My technical abilities are limited so find any updates like this difficult. In short I have discovered that under keyboards etc I am linked to USA English but have had problems in trying to amend this. I will probably call in a handy neighbour to help so will get back to you asap. Thanks again

Peter

As I said above I am using Windows 7. I think the settings are the same or very close to the same.

It is very simple. Go to the Start orb and select control panel, then select regions and languages. Then click on the tab that says keyboards and languages. Change keyboards> under installed services if the choice of English UK is not listed then choose Add and follow the screen prompts. You may need to supply the Vista DVD.
