Keyboard with numpad types numbers instead of letters

Specs: Windows 7 64bit , Intel core i3-2310m. 2,1 GHz/ 4gb ram
Dear,

I have a problem with my wireless keyboard from Medion. ( Model N°: KBR0108) I installed the driver for the keyboard on my Windows 7 64 bit. (ASUS K53S) It is a keyboard with a numpad so when I press numlock the numpad works, but then when I want to type “U” it types 4 or “I” becomes 5 and so on. But that happens normally with a keyboard without a numpad. So I think the computer doenst recognize the right sort of wireless keyboard. I’ve been searching a lot on the web, but it’s not the same problem.

Regards
Vincken

Yes but then I can’t use my numpad and the rest of the keys at the same time. Wha you normally can do with such a keyboard.

"I can’t use my numpad and the rest of the keys at the same time"
Do things work correctly when using the numbers on the top of the keyboard.

Yes just shift or caps lock. But the problem is if I turn on numlock to use my numpad on my keyboard then the numpad will work but the a-z keys behave as a numpad (like laptops without a numpad). So turning the numpad off is not an option because. Normally you can use the numpad and the a-z keys without constantly turning on/off the numlock. And the method on the manual didn’t work.

Sounds like a defective keyboard, if new then send back.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Did you read the page I suggested in the manual, which describes exactly this situation?

You press the NumLock on the external keyboard and then the NumLock on the internal one.

Yes I tried that method and It didn’t work. It’s very annoying because on an other laptop It works perfectly. So the keyboard isn’t defect. And if I press numlock on the external keyboard It just turns on the numlock on the internal laptop.

So, if you start with both keyboards Numlock off, you have alphabet
keys on the laptop and arrow keys on the pad of the external keyboard.

You press Numlock on the external keyboard, and you get the numbers
working on both keyboards.

Then you press Numlock on the laptop, and BOTH keyboards go back
to their original Numlock off state? Not just the laptop keyboard?

I suppose Medion is probably a Chinese company, but I think you
should complain to them that the driver doesn't work as you would
like it to, with your particular laptop.

You could uninstall the driver, run CCleaner's registry cleaner feature to remove remains of it, restart the laptop and reinstall the driver from scratch. This will ensure that if there is an error on one file it is not kept by the installer but is all new and clean.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Yeah but there is something wrong with the driver. If I install the driver on my Windows 7 device (for Windows XP) It just installs “hotkeys” and I get spammed with an error on my desktop. On other laptops I don’t have to install the driver.
