Keyboard not working when booting from Live USB

Specs: Linux i686), 2.795 GHz / 1270 MB
I have Windows and Ubuntu installed on my system.
I burned clonezilla iso file on my usb with FAT using tuxboot for backing up one of my drives.
But on booting from the usb I can't select anything from keyboard, I can see the main screen image though.
Surprisingly,on the grub menu however I can choose which OS to boot(if booted from the system)
The problem is only when booting from external devices.Haven't tested CD though.
is there anything else that required?I tried my best to be as concise as possible.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you very much.

If you are currently using a USB keyboard, you may have to use a PS/2 keyboard instead if your PC is equipped with PS/2 ports.
