Keyboard not working after switching on

September 24, 2010 at 20:46:33
Specs: Windows Vista, 6302 186GHZ /2GB
Can't input anything on Windows Vista Home Premium desktop PC using keyboard, can input my password on welcome screen but nothing after that, only the mouse works.
This occurred some time after yesterday installing some Windows updates, but not sure if immediately following them. Just in case, tried uninstalling them today, some cannot be uninstalled. Tried to use System Restore tonight, to go back 24 hours - it appeared to be working, then notice appeared saying that it couldn't be done. I am sorry if I seem so clueless, I am not computer literate, but I am one of those golden oldies, and remember the newly invented B/W tv with a few channels and rabbit ears. I have tried to keep up with the grandkids, but it is futile.
.
The problem PC is my desktop ( I am typing this on my laptop) and the info I wrote down is as follows:
DELL DIMENSION DM 061
PROCESSOR INTEL CORE 2 CPU 6320 @ 186 GHZ
MEMORT RAM 2.00 GB
SYSTEM TYPE 32 BIT OS

Is it a PS/2 keyboard or USB ? If USB, you might try plugging it into a different USB port. By the way, you don't seem clueless at all, just in need of some advice.
