Keyboard Arbitrarily Remaps Itself

Specs: Windows XP SP3
My keyboard, that I've owned for a couple of years now, has started spouting some strange remaps, such as End is now Next Track. Left and Right shift are Num 4 and 1 respectively (with the Num lock key off, and Num Lock itself is now Volume Up ), Spacebar is Volume Down, and I don't know why these things have been happening.

Utilities such as Keytweak have only a partial effect on the problem, when i remap the entire keyboard to default it just creates new problems.

Is this some sort of malicious program that's ruining my registry, or is it something I can fix?

PS. It was so frustrating even typing this simple post.

I don't think it's the keyboard but try another one as a test.

Download, update & run anti malware from malwarebytes.org

Ah, the thing is I don't have another keyboard at this moment in time. So I'll try that if I can get my hands on another.

The scan has been running for only 2 minutes and has already picked up 50 infected files.
Thanks a lot, Avast.

I never saw a virus that does that to the keyboard. The closest thing to that was one that made the icons run away from the mouse.
