Solved Keyboard and mouse pad not working

January 13, 2012 at 08:41:53
Specs: Windows 7 Ultimate, AMD Turion 64x2
Hi I have an Asus A7D on which the keyboard and mouse pad have stopped working. I turned the laptop off and went out for a couple of hours, on return tried to power laptop up but keyboard and mouse were not working, no one had touched laptop while I was out. The laptop tries to boot and goes through the Asus starting screen until it gets to the screen that says "Your laptop failed to start Windows will try to repair" or option 2 "Start Windows normally". Because keyboard and mouse are not working I am unable to try option 2. I have removed the keyboard and cleaned the ribbon cable and replaced it, still the same. On looking at the keyboard ribbon cable it seamed to be badly creased so thinking that may be broken inside ordered new keyboard, Fitted new keyboard but still the same, nothing works. Any help anyone can give me as to what to try will be greatly appreciated.
Just to update I have tried removing battery and CMOS battery but has not helped.

✔ Best Answer
try hirens boot cd 15.1 to see if you have any virus on the system. if you cant find any do a factory restore if you have one or just put windows fresh onto it.
