Keep getting kicked off internet - not modem

December 3, 2009 at 14:08:56
Specs: Windows XP
Although I have wireless broadband, I have reached my cap and now having to use the dial-up I have as backup. For some reason, I keep getting kicked off at different times while using the internet on my desktop (where all my college work is).

My laptop works fine, so it isn't the phone line. I switched out the modem on the desktop, so it isn't the modem. It isn't a disconnection because of inactivity either.

Under Event Viewer and Sytem, I see Event ID 20158 and 20159.

I am also seeing something I didn't see yesterday, and that is error Event IDs 29 and 17. I don't think these last two are the real problems since they weren't showing up yesterday.

I try to constantly keep web pages opening because it seems to help, but eventually it will kick me off no matter what.

Thanks for any help.

I was using Comodo firewall and still had my XP firewall up as well. I disabled the XP firewall and everything seems okay now.
