Does it have all of the up to date Windows 7 drivers?
To help see why it might be shutting down, install HWMonitor
and list all temps and volts or post a screenshot to an appropriate site with link.

Note that if this refurbished PC included any warranty and it is still in effect, contact where you purchased it and have them resolve the issue or replace the machine (back up your personal data first).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

It's an older laptop, hopefully you didn't pay much for it.

How did you go about installing Windows 7? Did you delete ALL partitions, create one or more new partitions, then install Win7 completely from scratch? Or did you do an in-place upgrade? Hopefully the change in OS didn't void the warranty. Where did you find the drivers?

Laptop shutdowns are generally caused by overheating. Make sure the air vents are clear & that when you use the laptop, you're not placing it on a soft surface that can block air from getting to the intake vents on the underside.

BTW, with the "ATI Radeon™ X1270 Up to 256 MB Hypermemory" graphics, it's definitely not a gaming rig. Stick to games from about 2005 & keep the game settings on low.
