issues after installing BFG Geforce 9500GT

Hewlett-packard / Pavilion p6130y

Specs: windows 7 home premium 64-bits, 4 GB
after getting a new graphic card from me (BFG
Geforce 9500GT) my brother's computer's
been acting wierdly...

He got it as a gift from me as i am moving onto
another better graphic card. I was, prior to this,
running this Geforce 9500GT on a HP pavilion
a6000n, and everything was fine.

After i gave it to him and had it installed on HP
pavilion p6130y, the computer, first, couldn't
play warcraft (which should be completely able
to play it on a AMD quad core system.) It said
that "directX 8.1 or higher is needed." my
brother definitely have directX 10, but for some
reason, it can't play warcraft.

I figured that it is because i installed the vista
driver from the CD onto his windows 7 OS.
later, i installed the driver all over again (after
removing his "vista" driver) by downloading the
windows 7 driver from the nvidia website.

After that, warcraft worked, but for some
reason 1. the computer crashes after rebooting
from installing newer updates from microsoft
regarding this driver (along with some other
stuff) and 2. after playing warcraft for a bit, the
computer froze, (like completely, he had to
turn it off manually.) and also 3. when
watching this video after rebooting from the
freezing, the screen lagged, and the pixels
appeared from the screen and, freezes.

i seriously don't know what to do. This graphic
card worked perfectly on my computer, but it
won't work on his computer. any ideas?

I foudn out what was causing my directX to not respond. i had the wrong driver installed. Though it works now, my brother's computer Freezes (but does not show the blue screen of death) whenever he plays games like L4D2 or Modern warfare 2.
it just frreezes, whenever he is in a game, and the sound lags, and then no respond.
i seriously don't know what to do...

Hey man it sounds to me like you are using up to much power. 300w is not enough for that system. It is fine for integrated but as soon as you add that gpu it doenst cut it.
The reason I believe this is...pc runs fun when not doing anything to graphicallly intensive, but as when you load a game it does what you described. These can be signs of not enough power. Search google for PSU calculater, and do it out, make sure you include everything.

Also I highly reccomend doing a complete removal of any old drivers and get the newest win 7 64-bit drivers.
Now search on google, COMPLETE video driver removal, this should require you to remove drivers from control panel, as well as some c++applications, and you will have to go into the reg and delete any lingering files pertaining to the old drivers. MAKE A BACK UP OF YOUR REG BEFORE DOING THIS.
There are plenty of good step-by-step guides onhow to do this w/ pictures on google.
Goodluck, I will check back here maybe see how it goes, you for sure want a new psu, get atleast a 450w, you can get a good one for around 40$.

i'm pretty sure it is not the PSU's fault. I used my new 700W
PSU and it still didn't work.
