Flash drive not recognized - Is there anyway to fix a flash drive that's not recognized and shows up as unknown device in device manager? I have already turn off pc, unplugged, and removed battery for 10 minutes. Any suggestions? thanks,

The reliability of flash drives has improved considerably over the years, but yet they still can go bad. If you've tried mounting and/or formatting in several machines, then it's time for a new flash drive. Heavy use over those 1 1/2 years probably isn't out of the realm of reliability.

Look for the flash drive in Windows Disk Management. If it shows there, post all the information listed there for that device.

What is the history of the flash drive? Was it recently working in the Windows environment? If so, describe what happened.

Doesn't show in diskmgmt.msc Flash drive has been in use about 1 1/2 years. This month was inserted in pc, power light shows, but not recognized. Have tried it in 3-4 different pc's.
