I time road races and have been experimenting with ways to Bluetooth -> Keyboard Wedge runner ID / Bib # into my JustBasic program. I have used Barcode which is operator and sunlight sensitive and Keypad number punching is slow. The best way I have found for speed, accuracy and no conflicts with separate time inputs is using NFC tags but I have to use a 10' USB cable. The problem is that I cannot find a device that will Bluetooth -> Keyboard Wedge NFC tags to Windows. Many will Bluetooth to a mobile device but that only helps a little as you would still have to manually transfer a bib number to the main program. Any suggestions?

Have you tried searching using the search tool on Amazon's website and other vendors?

I bit the bullet and paid around $400 an AS 10 from Arkscan and it's dedicated dongle. Usual problems understanding set up instructions but did get it working eventually. It will Bluetooth wedge 13.56 KHz reads to my code to identify runners. Arkscan support is up close and personal just like you would hope. Nice e-mails explaining things from Tech Chief.

Complicated programmable machine. Output is in Reverse Hex so had to spend half a day rewriting program to handle that. Wish beep was louder and light was brighter. You can hear the buzzer better than the beep. Let's you know when you are out of range of dongle. Range is ordinary BLE of about 10 m but will go through a brick wall.

Part of solution to feedback was adding loud bell and buzzer sounds when someone finishes or is read in via Bluetooth.
