Is new HD4650 AGP card fake?

December 20, 2010 at 14:17:20
Specs: XP SP3, P4 3gHz/1gb
I have just purchased a new Gigabyte ATI HD4650 AGP card

The install manual indicated it requires a powersupply with one 2x3 connector and my PSU certainly meets the spec. On inspection of the card It does not have a 2x3 power connection but what appears to be a standard 4 pin molex connection. Should I be concerned that the card might not be genuine?

I just downloaded the manual & copied what is listed for minimum system requirements:

"A power supply that provides at least 400-watt and with one one 4-pin power connector is required. The power supply should be with a known brand and certified to conform to safety regulations. (For the list of certified power supplies, go to"

Thanks mickliq. I hadn't seen that spec page. All the ones I looked at said 6 pin power connector and even google images only revealed one photo of that end of the card showing a 6 pin connector:

I haven't tried the card yet but you have put my mind at ease.

Edit: Have installed the card and so far all's good.
