Is my old PC bad enough to get a new one?

Specs: Windows XP
I was wondering if I should get a whole new computer. I still have your standard beige tower and monitor from who knows when. I'm guessing late 90's (My graphics card was a 2001 model).

Lately, however I have been noticing that it is not coping very well. I know it is getting very old, but is it too old? You see my parents aren't that tech savvy, and they're only spending the cash if it needs to be done.
In the past we have upgraded, but at the moment I think it's way ahead upgrading.

Sys Info:
Running on XP professional, service pack 3.
120 Ghz Intel Celeron
1 GB of Ram.

Shocking, I know - but is it bad enough to get a new computer?

I think u mean 1200mhz or 1.2ghz. Yes u need a new & cheap dual core system.

We can not fight new wars with old weapons, let he who desires piece prepare for war - PROPHET.

It depends on what you use a computer for. If you just surf the web and do email, that system will be ok. If you plan on playing modern games or doing any graphics intense programs, the like Kuwese says, look into a new dual core system. The newer technologies involving ram / processor speeds graphics etc. have changed dramatically in the last few years.

Save the old system, Buy a new one on sale. No more than $500 should do it,
