I want to use KillDisk (http://www.killdisk.com/) on my HDD. I am running this on Vista ASUS X58L series. Will I be able to install my recovery DVD after using KillDisk. It's an OEM recovery disk not a standalone OS! Thanks in advance
If you wipe out the recovery partition, you're screwed. Why do you feel you need to use KillDisk?
Recovery partition?
As jam said, your machine probably has 2 partitions. a C and a D. The D is your recovery partition where all the data necessary to restore your computer resides. If you format this on purpose or by accident, you're screwed if you need to do a full recovery of the machine. What are you trying to accomplish?
My laptop has a C:/ drive and then an S:/ drive that I created. The C:/ drive holds the OS. I want to achieve a clean, factory-standard install.
Help is still appreciated but I think I might just buy a new/bigger HDD to suit what i'm trying to achieve
The recovery partition is hidden. I don't understand why you feel KillDisk is necessary.
I don't know. I was thinking I would use KillDisk on my HDD once I get a new one but I think smashing it with a hammer might get the same effect. Just don't feel safe with an HDD full of passwords and other data hanging around :D
