Inverted Mouse

Hewlett-packard Wireless comfort mobile...

Specs: Windows Vista
After installing the software from the CD and plugging in the USB, the mouse is detected and works. The problem is that the mouse is inverted. Moving it to the left makes the cursor on the screen go to the right, and vice versa. I connected another mouse to the same computer fine, though.

Remove mouse from system.Uninstall the software or better still go back to a restore point to just before you installed the mouse software. Then try insert the mouse and try it.

I've tried that and it's still inverted ): The mouse actually still works without the software as well, but it's still inverted.
I've also tried using the mouse with my other laptop but it's inverted there as well...
I wonder if the mouse is faulty.

If it's doing it without the accompanying software installed then it sounds like a bad mouse. But you might check its manual to see if there's some setting that inverts everything.

Or you're using it backwards. That is, if you rotate it 180 degrees it works right.

I'm pretty sure I'm not using the mouse backwards, but thanks for the suggestions. There's also no setting to reverse the directions (only the left/right click buttons but those are working fine). Oh well, I'll just go and return the mouse. xD

That problem is not all that uncommon, according to google. The most common fix is to remove the mouse batteries and then reinstall them.

I don't know that it always works.

If you take it back, post back if the seller offered any advice.

There might be a reset button on the mouse or sending unit if it is wireless too. Try to reset it.

Might be some worker on the line having a good laugh at his backwards install.
