installing satahd to ide computer

Specs: Windows XP
hi can anyone help me?
i am trying to install a sata hd into my ide computer. i have installed it through a pci adapter card, but hd is not recognised i am running xp. i have installed drivers, and gone into bios and put in advanced settings another hd do not know what i am doing wrong.any help would be greatly appreciated.

The hard drive needs to be partitioned in order for it to appear in 'My Computer'.

Right click 'My Computer' and click manage, then go Storage -> Disk management. It will load for a bit and then your drives will appear. Partitioned drives will have a blue bar at the top and unpartitioned will appear with black bars.

Right click the unallocated space and there should be an option to partition the space, all the default options in the prompts should be fine. It will ask if you also want to format the drive, click yes and once its finished your good to go! It should appear in 'My Computer' now.

Depends on the MOB. it might not support High capacity HDD.
read Manual about your MOB on internet upto which capacity does it support. Update your Bios and give it a try once again.

845 and 865 MOB may not support more than 250 GB HDD
