I recently had problems loading windows and decided to reformat the computer (even though I lost tons of music, movies, pics, games, etc.) Now when I'm booting it from the disc that my father gave me (which is a Microsoft xp professional w/ service pack 3 for refurbished computers) it loads all the drivers and such but when I try to install windows it hangs in the set up...
The point it hangs is when it says it creates a list of all the files needed to install windows and says it could take up to several minutes.
After this it gets to a few certain points which differ from each time I try to do it, usually around 7%, 9% (which is drivers.cab), or if it gets past this point it hangs at 34/35%Should I try to install windows using a different cd or is there something actually wrong with the computer?
A bad CD could do this so you should try a different one. If that fails then you have more serious hardware problems, such as a bad hard drive.
