Installing a new hard Drive on a Vaio pcg7z2l

Specs: Windows XP
I purchased a hard drive which had Vista pre-loaded on it but when I put it in my vaio it comes up but then goes blank and does not run. Then I tried to install XP and it said I did not have a hard drive connected...someone said I have to download drivers but from where and which ones????Help

You can't use a HDD with Vista pre-loaded unless it was pre-loaded on an identical machine. And you can't install XP unless you install the SATA drivers at the very beginning of the installation by pressing F6, then loading the drivers from a floppy. If you don't have a floppy drive, you're going to have to create an all new XP disc with the SATA drivers slipstreamed into it. You can use nLite to create the new disc:

Where did you buy a hard drive with Vista on it? Probably a pirated copy that wouldn't activate anyway.
