Specs: Windows XP, 3.30/1gig
Hi i had to reinstall windowsxp on a neighbours machine and then i got the drivers for the IBM thinkcentre S51 but i still don't have sound. I don't think any of the other drivers(video) installed either but i am not sure. The main thing is i need the sound installed. could it be possible that the sound is disabled on the motherboard? the other info i got was that it is a 81713FM and Intel i915P/i915G rev 1. it is sound on board and there were two downloads on the ibm site one with Cadenza software and one without. I do not understand what that is but i go both.

Both audio drivers will work. Click audio driver and read "additional information"
make sure audio is enabled in bios.

Yes i read the txt files and didn't notice anything relevant there. I had thought of the bios just now too. I will have to go and check hopefully tomorrow. I wish i could instruct people how to do things over the phone but it easier to just go and do it myself he he....thanks!

OK well i sent to the girls place today and i checked the bios. The audio was enabled. I checked device manager and Video controller, sound and ethernet all had yellow question marks and explanation marks next to them so i am missing something somewhere in the bios?
I also installed a dvd/cd-rw drive and that didn't come up as installed either. The tray opens and closes but that is it. How is this all blocked? The machine came from a company so maybe they did something so these things could not be accessed?
Would the situation be bipassed if she bought a little usb sound card? They seem to be ultra cheap on ebay. This is a person that will just do chatting and documents(word) or a bit of surfing. Never anything more.
