I suspect that you did NOT remove the CMOS, but instead
removed the battery that maintains power to the CMOS while
the computer is unplugged. Is that correct?

Hopefully, you had the computer powered down BEFORE doing naything inside the case.

I assume you have a desktop computer. I also assume you meant the clr (clear) CMOS jumper.

Either you installed the RAM wrong or bought the wrong RAM. The procedure to clear the CMOS is to move the jumper from the run position to the clear position and then back to the run position. The computer MUST be powered down to do this. Permanent damage can occur if you had power on when placing the jumper in the clear position.

Provide details on your computer and how much and what kind of RAM did you have and what you bought.

Oh, yeah. The jumper might be what he meant.

You didn't supply any info about your system or the RAM. Did you check the system specs to confirm the RAM you bought is compatible? There may be an overall limit or size limit per slot. Did you buy the RAM from a reputable vendor?
