Solved Inexpensive laptop recommendations sought

Specs: Windows 7, Intel i3, 4gb
Can anyone in the UK suggest an inexpensive laptop to replace my wife's which is now passing its sell by date?

I am looking to spend up to around £400. The only real must-haves are it should be a Windows machine, have good RAM size (8gb), 15.4 inch screen, not be slow and good disk space.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Newbie, where are you in the UK?

If you are considering used laptops, as an example, I was in Wembley High Street yesterday. Near Wembley Central Station were at least 2 shops selling refurbished Laptops that looked very nice and for very reasonable prices. e,.g. >£200.

Although I think it unwise to buy such from a remote outlet.

Also 8gb of ram is probably unnecessary and, depending on pc and/or os, may not even be used.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick reply.

As it's to be a Xmas prezzie for my wife I think she would not appreciate a refurbed one. She would probably hit me with it.

Any ideas for a new one?

Lenovo laptops have a good reputation. There are plenty to choose from in your price range.

Thanks, Derek, I'll take a look. What's their reliability like? Historically we have had Acers which are good but they are now somewhat more expensive than many machines.

I would say generally pretty good. However, with all products luck comes into it - some folk swear by certain brands whilst others swear at them.
