IDE to USB cable?

Specs: Windows 95/98
Hello,

I need to transfer data from an old hard disk (IDE connection) in a 486 PC to a laptop running Win98.
Rather than trying to set up the PC as a network node or removing the hard disk for use as a slave, is there such a thing as an IDE to USB connector which could transfer data?

And can I do this by just supplementing the hard disk with power, but not actually booting it up?

If this isnt possible, is there an alternative method you can suggest?

Thanks!
