IDE to USB cable

Specs: Windows XP
Hello there, does someone has some advice for me? Just bought a IDE to USB cable, want to connect and restore some data from an old IDE desktop disk. I bought a Digitus cable wich has an adapter on one end end USB to the other, but no power plug??!!
Wouldn't I need that? Or do I need to use the power of my desktop?
Thanks
Pascal.

You can use the power connector in your desktop, powered adaptors are available for sata/ide 3.5 & 2.5 inch combination drives to usb at reasonable price.

Strange that you didn't get a power adapter, they usually come with the IDE to USB adapter. But as Anmor said, using one of the internal power connectors will work just fine.
