ide to sata device

Specs: Windows 7
I am looking for a device that can be attached to the back of my 3.5 IDE hard drive (Western Digital); and the other side is like a SATA drive that is it has the little plugs that fit into the sata ports. I have a hdd docking station. The ide side will not recognaize Western Digital. So I am hopping there is a device that I can attach to the ide drive and the other side will fit into the hdd docking station on the sata side. I have seen several ide to sata adapters and ide to sata converters on Ebay, but most of them say it is attached to the mother board. And what I want to do is make my ide drive into a "cloned" sata drive so I can put it into the hdd docking station on the sata side. So I am not sure which device works best, or if they even make such a device. You can send your ideas and suggustions to:

Have you tried it with more than one Western Digital drive because it might just be a faulty drive.

If not take a look at this on ebay (please shop around as this was the first I saw)

Could it be be the master/slave jumper is set incorrectly?

Why not just get a SATA docking station

Or get one of these instead that can connect to multiple types

I have this one and it work great

The sata only docking station does not let you use ide drives. I have a dual docking station that reads both ide and sata, except the ide side does not work with my western digital hard drives. That is why I am looking for an adapter that will convert my ide western digital to a sata drive, then I can use it in my docking station. I also have a sata only docking station, and if I have an adapter that will convert my ide hard drive to sata, then I can use the ide hard drive in the sata only docking station.

That is why I suggested the second item. That adapter not only can connect full size SATA and IDe but can connect 2.5" SATA & IDE AND connect optical drives of both flavors. Very flexible device.
