ide cd/dvd rom problem with ide to sata adapt

Specs: Windows XP
I brought my ide to sata adapter and tried to connect the ide cd rom. it gets detected during booting but does not shows up when system boots completely. is there anything to be done with the cd rom jumper?

If you are connecting it to the same ribbon cable, then the jumper should stay the same. However, the BIOS may have a problem with SATA. Search google for SATA BIOS support. There are alot of hits.

Adapters are problematic. Doesn't your motherboard support IDE? Or are you using it for something else? You'd be better off getting a PCI IDE controller card. For example:

This is an old thread but just in case it helps anybody out there....
I had similar problem with an IDE DVD_RW on an all-SATA Gigabyte M68MT-S2P Ver 3.0 motherboard. I bought an IDE to SATA adaptor from ebay but it would only work when jumper was set to "cable select" AND on SATA channel 2 which is the third socket on the motherboard.
